A Little Bit About Shelby...
I grew up all over Massachusetts and Maine, before finally landing in the South Shore for the past several years. I originally went to school to become a teacher before realizing that I wanted to work in a more direct and hands-on manner with others. I decided to give social work a try in my undergraduate career and ended up loving it – leading me to obtain my MSW, as well. I am a lover of dogs, coffee, car rides and music.
WHY DID YOU BECOME A THERAPIST?
People always joked when I was a child that I would grow up to be one of three things: a therapist, a nurse or a teacher. When I realized that I am afraid of needles, nursing went straight out the window. I worked at a day-habilitation center for adults living with intellectual disabilities throughout college, and that’s when I learned that I didn’t want to teach – I wanted to work alongside people. The truth is, I love conversing with people, being a trustworthy person to others and helping in whatever capacity I can.
