Young Teen DBT Group (Ages 12 - 14)
The early teen years can be an intense time. Emotions run high, friendships shift quickly, and many teens are still learning how to handle stress, frustration, and conflict in healthy ways.
Our Massachusetts Young Teen DBT Skills Group helps teens build practical tools to navigate these challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
In this group, teens learn skills that help them:
• Manage strong emotions without becoming overwhelmed
• Cope with stressful situations in healthier ways
• Communicate more effectively with friends, family, and peers
• Handle conflict and frustration more constructively
• Develop greater self-awareness and emotional balance
The group focuses on five core DBT skill areas:
-
Mindfulness – learning to pause, focus, and be present
-
Distress Tolerance – getting through difficult moments without
escalating the situation
-
Emotion Regulation – understanding and managing big emotions
-
Interpersonal Effectiveness – building stronger communication and
relationship skills
-
Walking the Middle Path – reducing black-and-white thinking and
improving family dynamics
Our goal is to help teens develop real-life skills they can use at home, at school, and in their relationships—skills that support healthier coping, stronger communication, and greater emotional stability.
