Teen DBT Group (Ages 14 - 17)

The teenage years bring new challenges, greater independence, and increasing pressure from school, relationships, social media, and planning for the future. During this stage, emotions can feel bigger, stress can build quickly, and knowing what to do in difficult moments isn't always obvious.

Our Massachusetts Teen DBT Skills Group helps teens develop practical, evidence-based skills to manage life's challenges with greater confidence, resilience, and emotional balance.

In this group, teens learn skills that help them:

• Manage intense emotions more effectively
• Cope with stress in healthier ways
• Improve communication with family, friends, and peers
• Navigate conflict without making situations worse
• Build stronger relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries
• Increase self-confidence and emotional awareness

The group focuses on five core DBT skill areas:

• Mindfulness – staying present and responding thoughtfully rather than reacting impulsively

• Distress Tolerance – getting through difficult moments without making them more difficult

• Emotion Regulation – understanding emotions and learning how to manage them more effectively

• Interpersonal Effectiveness – communicating clearly, setting boundaries, and strengthening relationships

• Walking the Middle Path – reducing all-or-nothing thinking, improving flexibility, and creating healthier family relationships

Our goal is to help teens build real-life skills they can use every day, whether they're navigating friendships, family dynamics, academic pressures, or preparing for adulthood. These are practical tools that support healthier coping, stronger relationships, increased resilience, and lasting emotional well-being.

Real life. Real skills.
